Maggie won de Open Klas op de CACIB-show in Luxemburg vandaag onder Andrew Brace (UK) en behaalde daarmee haar Luxemburgse Kampioenstitel. Zij is onze 9e Kampioen waarvan 8 zelfgefokt.

Maggie won the Open Class at the Int. Ch. Show in Luxembourg today under Andrew Brace which earned her the Luxembourgian Champion title. She is our ninth Champion, 8 of which are home bred.

Vandaag zijn we met Lina naar de dierenarts geweest voor een echografie en kunnen nu het heuglijke nieuws melden dat wij rond 10 september een nestje verwachten, het eerste in twee jaar tijd! Toekomstige vader is Marquel Meant to be for Her, gefokt door Mark Boswell en in eigendom van Monika Bollinger ("vom Schloss Hellenstein").

Today we took Lina to the vet for an ultrasound and can now proudly announce that our first litter in two years is due round September 10th. Father-to-be is the handsome Marquell Meant to be for Her, bred by Mark Boswell and owned by Monika Bollinger ("vom Schloss Hellenstein").

En we gaan gewoon door: op de Kampioenschapsclubmatch van de Belgische 'Sporting Spaniel Association' waar de Cockers werden gekeurd door Jane Mitchell ('Glowhill') wonnen onze twee meisjes alweer allebei hun klas. Dory werd later aangeduid als Best v/h Ras en eindigde tenslotte onder keurmeesteres Elena Ruskovaara als Reserve Best-in-Show.

And we simply go on: at the Championship Show of the Belgian 'Sporting Spaniel Association', where Cocker were judged by Jane Mitchell ('Glowhill'), both our girls won their respective class again. Dory eventually won Best of Breed and later under Elena Ruskovaara Reserve Best-in-Show.

Het succesverhaal gaat verder. Op de Pinkstershow in Arnhem werden de Cockers gekeurd door dhr P. Krol uit Polen, onze twee dametjes wonnen beide hun klas en dit keer was het Maggie die het CAC/IB in de wacht sleepte. The succes story continues. At the Whit Show in Arnhem Cockers were judged by Pjotr Krol from Poland. Our young ladies both won their class again and this time it was Maggie who got hold of the CAC/CACIB. In the meantime Dory is firmly in the lead in the Cocker of the Year competition of the Dutch Spaniel Club.

Alweer een succesvolle dag op de 2-jaarlijkse Clubmatch van de Luxemburgse 'English Cocker Spaniel Club' waar Margaret Struthers ('Daydawn' Cockers, Schotland) een record inschrijving van 78 Cockers te keuren had. Maggie en Dory wonnen beiden hun klas en waren in de eindkeuring ook alletwee bij de 4 uitgeselecteerden voor Beste Teef. Dory haalde het en versloeg nadien ook de reu voor Best In Show. Another successful day at the biennial Championship Show of the English Cocker Spaniel Club of Luxembourg where Margaret Struthers ('Daydawn' Cockers, Scotland) had a record entry of 78 Cockers to go over. Maggie and Dory both won their class and were also both shortlisted for Best Bitch. Dory won it and later beat the Dog for Best In Show. By doing so she followed in the footsteps of Lina, who won this show 4 years ago.

Wat een super dag beleefden wij op de CACIB-tentoonstelling in Goes: Dory won het CAC en Maggie het Res. CAC onder keurmeesteres Gitte Finnich Pedersen van Denemarken. What a fabulous day we had at the Goes Int. Ch. Show: Dory won the CC and Maggie the Res.CC under judge Gitte Finnich Pedersen from Denmark. Dory went on to win BOB and Runner-up in the Group under the same judge. Thanks to Mildred for handling Maggie.

Enkele weken nadat ze Luxemburgs kampioen is geworden, heeft Dory nu op de Paasshow in Leeuwarden onder keurmeester Moray Armstrong ook de Nederlandse Kampioenstitel behaald. Dory is onze 6e Nederlandse Kampioen en alle 6 zijn ze zelfgefokt.

Net zoals vorig jaar wint Dory op de voorjaars-CACIB-tentoonstelling van Luxemburg haar klas en het bijhorende CACL, hetgeen haar de titel van 'Luxemburgs Kampioen' oplevert.

Just like last year Dory wins her Class with CACL at the Luxembourg Spring CACIB Show, which earns her the title of 'Luxembourg Champion'.

It is becoming a habit: on our first show of the year (Eindhoven) Dory wins another Reserve CC under judge P. Jentgen from Luxembourg. So all we can do is wait for the next show and another opportunity to win her final points towards the Dutch Champion title.

Het nieuwe jaar is voor ons niet bepaald op een positieve manier ingezet: de gezondheidstoestant van Sheila, bij wie vorige zomer een ernstige leveraandoening werd vastgesteld, was plots zodanig verslechterd dat er ons geen andere keuze overbleef dan haar te laten inslapen om haar verder lijden te besparen, en dit nog geen jaar nadat we afscheid moesten nemen van haar moeder Topsy.

Unfortunately we don't have much to celebrate at the start of this new year: last summer Sheila was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and although at first we managed to keep her condition reasonably stable it started to deteriorate rapidly a week or two ago when some serious complications occured and so we were left with no other option than to have her PTS to save her from further suffering. We are absolutely devastated, having already lost Sheila's mum Topsy a mere 8 months ago. (Photo © H. van Wessem)

Onze twee jonge meiden blijven het goed doen. Op de eerste Kampioenschapsclubmatch van de Engelse Cocker Spaniel Club Nederland wonnen ze alweer beiden een sterke klas onder de Engelse rasspecialist Michael Parkinson. Our two youngster are continuing their winning ways. Op de Kampioenschapsclubmatch van de Sporting Spaniel Association heeft ons showteam weer een schitterend resultaat behaald onder de Engelse rasspecialiste Lesley Spencer: Maggie (bovenste foto - © Philippe Fortemps) en Dory (onderste foto) wonnen beiden hun klas en Dory wist uiteindelijk beslag te leggen op het Reserve Kampioenschap. Maggie's broer Cooper werd derde in zijn klas.

At the Championship Show of the Sporting Spaniel Association our show team did very well again under UK breed specialist judge Lesley Spencer. Maggie (top photo - © Philippe Fortemps) and Dory (bottom photo) both won their respective classes and Dory went on to win the Reserve CAC. Maggie's litter brother Cooper got a 3rd place in his class.

Vandaag was een mooie lentedag, maar toch was het één van de donkerste dagen in ons leven. Topsy had al een tijdje ernstige gezondheidsproblemen welke vandaag een dieptepunt hadden bereikt. Daarom hebben we samen met onze dierenarts besloten haar te laten inslapen om haar verder lijden te besparen. Deze foto werd genomen op de show in Brussel waar ze, amper 9 maanden oud, Beste v/h Ras werd en 3e BIG. De toon was meteen gezet voor een onnavolgbare showcarrière.

Today was a lovely spring day, but for us it was one of the darkest days of our lives. Topsy's health problems, which started a few weeks ago, had reached an irreversible low, leaving us no alternative but to save her from further suffering. The picture above was taken at the Brussels Dog Show where, at the tender age of 9 months, she won BOB and BIG3. This marked the beginning of an unparalleled show career.

De Clubshow van de Belgian English Cocker Club was alweer een succes voor onze bescheiden kennel: Maggie werd Beste Puppy in Show en Dory won het Reserve CAC. Maggie's broer Cooper won zijn klas en Lina was tweede in Kampioensklas. Keurmeester was Derek Shapland (UK).

Once again we had a good day out at the Belgian English Cocker Club's Ch. Show: Maggie won Best Puppy in Show and Dory won the Res. CAC. Maggie's litter brother Cooper won his class and Lina got a second in Champion Class. Derek Shapland (UK) was the judge.

Flanders Dog Show

Het nieuwe showseizoen is voor ons begonnen met de CACIB show in Gent. Dit was meteen ook het debuut voor onze nieuwe puppy Maggie (Billsor Imagine). Zij werd onder de Engelse rasspecialiste Anne Webster ("Asquanne") Beste Puppy en later in de erering eindigde ze als Reserve Beste Puppy in Show!

Our new show season started with the Flanders Dog Show (CACIB show held in Ghent). This was also the debut for our new puppy Maggie (Billsor Imagine). She won Best Puppy under breed specialist Anne Webster ("Asquanne") and later went on to win Reserve Best Puppy in Show!

Op de 2e CACIB show van Luxemburg van dit jaar keurde Wim Wellens (NL) de Cockers. Hij koos Dory voor Beste Teef en ook Beste Junior. Hiermee werd Dory onze zesde Lux. Jeugdkampioen!

At the second Luxembourg CACIB Show of the year it was Wim Wellens from the Netherlands who judged Cockers. Dory was his choice for Best Bitch and Best Junior, which means she now is our 6th Lux. Jr Champion!

Puppies!

Sinds vannacht is Gladys de trotse moeder van 7 puppies (2/5), haar eerste nestje. En wijzelf zijn niet minder trots omdat één van de reutjes oranje is, wat we in jaren niet meer gehad hebben, en het andere waarschijnlijk bont (zwart-wit), hetgeen we in de 30 jaar dat we fokken zelfs nog nooit hadden.

Last night Gladys gave birth to her first litter: 2 boys and 5 girls. We're quite excited about this litter as one of the boys is orange, a colour which we haven't bred in many years, and the other might be black & white, which would be our very first in about 30 years of breeding.

CACIB Echt (NL)

Door omstandigheden beleefde Dory met de CACIB Show in Echt (NL) pas haar tweede tentoonstelling. Ze won een sterke Jeugdklas en dus ook het Jeugd-CAC, in de eindkeuring voegde ze daar nog het Reserve CAC aan toe. Dit fraaie resultaat, maar zeker ook de vele lovende woorden over Dory van mede-exposanten maakten dat wij een bijzonder leuke dag hadden.

Due to circomstances today's CACIB show at Echt (NL) was only the second show Dory attended. She won a strong Junior Class which earned her her first Jr-CAC, to which she later added the Res. CAC. This excellent result was made even more enjoyable by the many compliments we received re Dory from fellow exhibitors.

Europasieger Dortmund

Toen Lina 2 jaar geleden vanuit de Jeugdklas Beste van het Ras werd op de Europasieger Show in Dortmund dachten wij dat dat een unieke prestatie was. Dit jaar maakte haar 9 maanden oude nichtje Dory haar debuut op dezelfde show onder rasspecialist Duncan Craig (GB) en waarom zou zij met minder tevreden zijn? Geen sprake van!

When two years ago Lina won BOB at the Europasieger Int. Champ. Show in Dortmund from Junior Class we thought this was quite a unique achievement. This year, at 9 months and 2 days Dory had her debut at the same show under breed specialist Duncan Craig from the UK and would she settle for less than her kennel mate? No way!

Op de Eurodogshow in Kortrijk had de Britse keurmeesteres en rasspecialiste Jinty Gill-Davis 46 Cockers uit 5 verschillende landen te keuren. Lina won Beste v/h Ras en in de erering plaatste Ferelith Sommerfield haar als 4e van Groep 8.

An entry of 46 Cockers from 5 different countries awaited UK breed specialist Jinty Gill-Davis at the Eurodogshow in Kortrijk. Lina won BOB, in the Group judging in the main ring Ferelith Sommerfield awarded her 4th place.

Twee weken geleden werd Lina 27 maanden, de mimimum leeftijd om de Nederlandse Kampioenstitel te behalen. Al wat ze hiervoor nog nodig had was een Reserve CAC. Maar Lina houdt niet van half werk en ook niet van tijd verspillen: op haar eerste show na het bereiken van de min. leeftijd won ze gisteren in Rotterdam het CAC, werd Beste v/h Ras en ook nog vierde van Groep 8! Enkele uren nadat we afscheid hadden moeten nemen van Minty schonk haar achterkleindochter Saartje het leven aan drie pups: twee reutjes en een teefje. De eerste foto's staan reeds in het Foto-album

Just hours after we said our last farewell to Minty her great-granddaughter Sara gave birth to three puppies: two boys and a girl. The first photos have already been added to the Photo album.

Voor de tweede maal dit jaar hebben we afscheid moeten nemen van één van onze honden. Ondanks haar hoge leeftijd was Minty (Billsor Royal Mint) nog in relatief goede fysieke gezondheid, maar nauwelijks enkele dagen na haar 15e verjaardag ging het plots snel bergaf en hebben we haar, om haar onnodig lijden te besparen, laten inslapen.

For the second time this year we have been forced to part with one of our beloved dogs. In spite of her high age Minty (Billsor Royal Mint) still was in relatively good health untill a couple of days after her 15th birthday, when it started to go downhill so fast that we decided to give her sleep to save her from further suffering.

Dit is Clifford, de aanstaande vader van Saartje's tweede nestje, dat verwacht wordt tegen eind juli. Zowel Saartje als Clifford zijn genetisch vrij van PRA en FN, wat betekent dat ook de pups vrij zullen zijn van deze erfelijke aandoeningen. Meer info op onze website.

Meet Clifford, the father-to-be of Sara's second litter which is due end of July. Both Sara and Clifford are tested genetically clear of prcd/PRA and FN, which means that the puppies too will be clear of these hereditary defects. More details on our web site.

Op de Clubmatch van de Nederlandse Spanielclub eindigde Lina net zoals vorig jaar als Reserve Beste Teef, ditmaal onder de Engelse rasspecialiste Sue Telford ("Courmaster"). Gladys was in de Jeugdklas bij de laatste zes, maar werd uiteindelijk niet geplaatst.

De showcarriere van Gladys kent alvast een veelbelovende start: na het schitterende resultaat in Antwerpen werd ze vandaag 'Best Junior In Show' op de CAC Clubmatch van de 'Belgian English Cocker Club' onder Annie Kettle ('Lujesa') uit Engeland. Lina won het Res. CAC.

Op de CACIB show te Antwerpen werden de Cockers gekeurd door Rui Gonçalves uit Portugal die zelf Cockers fokt onder de kennelnaam "Vianset". Hij maakte Lina "Beste v/h Ras" en Gladys "Beste Jeugdhond". Beide meisjes schitterden daarna nog in de erering: Gladys vierde haar showdebuut in grootse stijl door, nauwelijks 9 maanden oud, als "Beste Jeugdteef In Show" te eindigen en Lina, die hiervoor niet wou onderdoen, won "Reserve Beste van Group 8" !

At the Antwerp CACIB Show Cockers were judged by Rui Gonçalves from Portugal, a Cocker breeder himself under the "Vianset" affix. He awarded Lina "Best of Breed" and Gladys "Best Junior". Both girls did us very proud in the main ring : Gladys celebrated her show debut in great style by, at the tender age of 9 months, winning "Best Junior Bitch In Show", while Lina, not to be outdone, won "Reserve Best in Group"!

Na een lange winterstop is ons nieuw showseizoen eindelijk begonnen. Op de Paasshow in Leeuwarden won Lina het Res. CAC(IB) onder de Engelse rasspecialiste Anne Webster ("Asquanne's") die dit schreef in haar keurverslag: "Delightful blue bitch that moved and showed like a dream...".

Vorige maandag, op 17 maart, hebben wij totaal onverwacht afscheid moeten nemen van Blue (Alisma Highlander) die als gevolg van een acute rughernia verlamd was geraakt vanaf de lende. Blue was op 6 december van vorig jaar 11 geworden.

On Monday, 17 March, Blue (Alisma Highlander) was given sleep to save him from further suffering. A week earlier an acute spinal hernia had left him paralysed from the waist down. Blue had celebrated his 11th birthday on 6 December.

Vandaag rondde Lina een schitterend eerste showseizoen af met een Reserve CAC op de Kerstshow te Wijchen in Nederland onder keurmeesteres R. Lochs. We weten nu al met zekerheid dat ze in de puntentelling van de Nederlandse Spanielclub met lengten voorsprong eindigt als "Beste Jeugdhond" en "Beste zelfgefokte teef" van 2007. Today Lina rounded off a fabulous first show season by winning the Reserve CAC at the "Christmas Show" in Wijchen (NL) under Mrs R. Lochs. We already know for certain that in the competition of the Dutch Spaniel Club she ends up as "Best Junior" and "Best Homebred Bitch" for 2007 with a huge lead. Amsterdam Winner Show

We hadden gisteren een heel leuke dag op de Winner Show in Amsterdam. Zoals elk jaar waren er nogal wat Engelse bezoekers waaronder enkele goede vrienden. Op deze show organiseren de Cocker exposanten gewoonlijk een bench party na de keuring. Op deze party had Nelly een vrouwelijk onderonsje met enkele topfoksters uit Engeland en Schotland: rechts van haar Trudy Short ('Parkmist' Welsh Springers), links Ann Corbett ('Trimere' Engelse Springers) en uiterst links Irene Glen ('Mutni'/'Wilholme' Cockers, Pointers en Duitse Staande). Schuin achter haar staat David Shields ('Wilholme') die de Cockers keurde. Lina en Saartje werden door hem alletwee tweede geplaatst in hun klas.

We had a very enjoyable day at the Amsterdam Winner Show yesterday. As usual there were quite a number of visitors from the UK, including a few very good friends of ours. Traditionally Cocker exhibitors throw a bench party at this show after judging. At this party Nelly had a little "girls chat" with a couple of top breeders from the UK: on the right Trudy Short ('Parkmist' Welsh Springers), on the left Ann Corbett ('Trimere' English Springers) and far left Irene Glen ('Mutni'/'Wilholme' English & German Pointers and Cockers). behind her is David Shields ('Wilholme'), the Cocker judge. Lina and Sara both won a second place in their respective classes.

Belgian Spaniel Club

De Clubmatch van de Belgische Spaniel Club werd gekeurd door Mike Gadsby uit Engeland. Hij plaatste Saartje tweede in de Kampioensklas. Lina werd eerste in de Jongehondenklas en versloeg de winnares van Kampioensklas voor het CAC.

The Championship Show of the Belgian Spaniel Club was judged by Mike Gadsby from the UK. He placed Sarah second in Champion Class. Lina won the Intermediate Class and in the finals beat the winner of Champion Class for the CC.

This is an extract from what the judge wrote about Lina: "Top quality bitch, beautiful presentation, excellent head and expression, perfect rear assembly, superb topline, ... , outstanding on the move."

Belgian English Cocker Club

European Spaniel Show (Austria)

Op de twee-jaarlijkse Europese Spaniel Show die dit jaar in Oostenrijk doorging en waar 300 Spaniels ingeschreven waren uit 19 verschillende landen hebben onze meisjes de Billsor-kleuren weer knap verdedigd. Onder keurmeesteres Pamela Halkett van Schotland wonnen ze allebei hun klas. Dezelfde keurmeesteres wees Lina aan als "Beste Junior In Show"(alle Spaniels samen). Saartje eindigde op de Europese Spaniel Show als "Beste Cocker Teef". Met dank aan David Todd ("Chataway") die haar vakkundig showde in de eindkeuring.

At the bi-annual European Spaniel Show, held this time in Austria with an entry of 300 Spaniels coming from 19 different countries, our two girls did us very proud again. They both won their classes under Pamela Halkett from Scotland. Lina was crowned "Best Junior In Show". Sara ended up winning "Best Cocker Bitch" at the European Spaniel Show ! Sincere thanks to David Todd ("Chataway") for handling her so expertly in the main ring.

Lovanium's "From Baby to Veteran" Show (B)

Vandaag won Lina Reserve Best In Show op de Lovanium "Van Baby tot Veteraan" show waar er 218 honden waren ingeschreven.

Lina continues her winning ways. Today she won Reserve Best In Show at Lovanium CS's "From Baby To Veteran" Show (an all breeds non group system open show) from an entry of 218 dogs.

English Cocker Spaniel Club Luxembourg

Lina laat opnieuw al haar concurrenten achter zich en wint 'Best in Show' op de Clubmatch van de Engelse Cocker Spaniel Club van Luxemburg! Er waren 71 Cockers ingeschreven uit zes verschillende landen voor keurmeesteres Susan Young ("Canyonn"). Saartje zorgt voor de kers op de taart door de Kampioensklas te winnen, hierdoor is ze nu naast Nederlands ook Luxemburgs Kampioen.

Lina claims the top spot again, this time at the English Cocker Spaniel Club of Luxembourg's Championship Show where she wins 'Best in Show' from an entry of 71 Cockers from 6 different countries under Susan Young ("Canyonn")! Sara puts the cherry on the cake by winning the Champion Class which gains her the Luxembourg Champion title.

Dutch Spaniel Club Ch Show

Op de Clubmatch van de Nederlandse Spanielclub won Lina een traditioneel sterke Jeugdklas. Hiermee is ze nu ook Nederlands Jeugdkampioen. In de eindkeuring werd ze bovendien nog Reserve Beste Teef, hetgeen haar nog een CAC oplevert. Saartje behaalde 1U in de Kampioensklas.

At the Dutch Spaniel Club's Championship Show Lina won a traditionally strong Junior Class, which earned her the Dutch Junior Champion title. In the finals she also won Reserve Best Bitch. Sarah came out on top in Champion Class.

Europasieger Show Dortmund (D)

Op de Europasieger-Show te Dortmund (D) ging Lina nog één stap verder dan in Luxemburg: onder de Engelse rasspecialiste Elaine Thomas ("Claramand") werd ze niet alleen Beste Teef maar ook Beste van het Ras uit een record inschrijving van 101 Cockers, en dit op de nog steeds prille leeftijd van 12 maanden! Ze mag nu ook de titel van Europajugendsiegerin'07 achter haar naam schrijven. Lees hieronder wat de keurmeesteres van haar vond.

At the Europasieger-Show in Dortmund (D) Lina surpassed our wildest expectations again by winning Best of Breed under UK breed specialist Elaine Thomas of Claramand fame from a record entry of 101 Cockers, while still only 12 months of age! She now can add the titel of Europajugendsiegerin'07 to her name. Read on Lina's page what this eminent judge wrote about her on a forum for Cocker breeders and enthousiasts:

"My Best Of Breed girl was superb, she had everything I wanted and was
so pleased to find, pushed hard by some lovely blacks and golds she had to pull
out all the stops , and she did.......... I just want to say that to get B.O.B.
from an entry of 101 cockers at such a top class show with a youngster is
a superb achievement, this bitch is a 'Super Star' in the making."

Luxembourg

Op de Internationale Show te Luxemburg won Lina het JrCACL en Beste Teef (van 43 inschrijvingen !!!) onder Herbert Klemann (D). Zij mag zich voortaan 'Luxemburgs Jeugdkampioen' noemen (na Blue en Ben onze derde). Er waren 43 teven ingeschreven, spijtig genoeg zijn er geen foto's genomen.

At the Luxembourg International Ch Show Lina won the JrCACL and Best Bitch (out of an entry of 43 bitches !!!)under Herbert Klemann from Germany. This makes her our third 'Luxembourg Junior Champion' (after Blue and Ben). Unfortunately no photos were taken.

Test results

Alle resultaten van de Optigen en Antagene genetische testen zijn nu binnen: Saartje, Lina en Claire zijn genetisch vrij van FN, Saartje en Lina zijn eveneens vrij van PRA. Wij hebben op onze website een pagina met de titel "Gezondheid" toegevoegd met uitgebreide informatie over deze genetisch testen voor erfelijke aandoeningen. Deze testen laten ons toe te kunnen garanderen dat geen enkele door ons gefokte pup ooit blind zal worden door PRA of nog voor zijn tweede verjaardag zal sterven aan FN.

All Optigen and Antagene test results are now in. Sarah, Lina and Clair all tested "clear" for FN, while Sarah and Lina also tested "clear" for prcd/PRA. On our website we have created a new page called "Health Matters" with info about these tests which allow us to guarantee that no puppy bred by us will ever go blind from PRA or die before its second birthday from FN.

Groningen (NL)

Op haar eerste show in Nederland pakte Lina op de prille leeftijd van 10 maanden al meteen haar eerste CAC onder keurmeester Peter van Soelen!

Lina wastes no time: at the tender age of 10 months she wins her first CAC at her very first show in Holland under Peter van Soelen!
